York, PA - The York Arts Association has a new home and a new logo to go with it, Roth J. Preap, Executive Director of the York Art Association, announced on Sunday, Nov. 5.
Founded in 1905, the York Art Association provides fine visual art education to the community. For over 118 years, this York County cornerstone has hosted over 100 classes and workshops annually.
Working with Rock Real Estate, the YAA purchased the former Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Church, otherwise nicknamed the “Little Green Church” located at 591 Linden Ave. This will provide YAA with double its gallery and education space. YAA was forced to look for a new location earlier in 2023 when it was announced the current location on South Marshall Street in York was to be seized by eminent domain for the Interstate 83 widening project.
The new logo and branding will adorn the current and new location and will build YAA’s presence in the community through a sleek and modern design. The design was created with the support of a grant awarded during Give Local York, which facilitated connections between YAA and students from Pennsylvania's College of Art and Design. Over the next few months, the new logo will be implemented across all social channels, websites, and printed materials.
“The York Art Association is a channel for artists in our community to present their works in a professional space,” says Michael Lowe, York Art Association’s Board President. “We are excited about this new location as it will support the growth and development of the Art Association while preserving the rich history associated with our organization and the church".
Over the next few years, the York Art Association will have the ongoing need to sustain two properties simultaneously during the completion of a capital campaign to support renovating the Linden Avenue property. Your support is needed now more than ever to help sustain the organization moving forward until we are able to relocate completely.
Please consider supporting the Art Association through our general operating fund below. We have appreciated your support thus far, and look forward to your continued support during this transition phase.
The York Art Association is a member-based organization serving over 300 members. The Association’s mission is “to encourage and develop an interest in the visual arts; to provide opportunities for education through classroom instruction, workshops, lectures, and publications; to support interaction within the community and to provide a venue for members and non-members to exhibit their work in a gallery setting.”
