Join us on January 21 for YAA's first exhibition (and lecture) of 2024!

The Judges Invitational will kick off our season on January 21st and run through March 3rd.



The public is invited to a free opening reception from 2 -4 PM at York Art Association for a special art exhibit featuring judges who have served the organization over the past several years.


Come and participate in a brief lecture and Q&A session led by nationally renowned artist Robert Evans who will provide us with some insight into what judges look for when jurying an exhibition. Meet some of our past judges and enjoy the work that they themselves have created!


Our Opening Reception is Sunday, January 21, from 2-4pm. Beverages and light refreshments will be provided. This event is open and free to the public.


ABOUT OUR SPEAKER

Rob Evans, an artist and independent curator near Wrightsville, PA, holds a BFA from Syracuse University (1981) and has received prestigious grants, including two from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and one from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation.


His enigmatic paintings are featured in over 30 public collections nationwide, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and National Gallery of Art. Evans has showcased his work in 100+ solo and curated group exhibitions globally, with highlights at the Tretyakov Museum in Moscow and Lalit Kala Akademi in New Delhi. As an independent curator, Evans organized notable exhibitions like "Transforming the Commonplace: Masters of Contemporary Realism" and "Visions of the Susquehanna."


Beyond his artistic endeavors, he has been a community arts activist for two decades, contributing to organizations like Yorkarts and the Historic Hellam Preserve. Evans established the Visions of the Susquehanna Art Collection, was Founding Artistic Director of the PA Arts Experience, and played a crucial role in creating Marketview Arts in York, PA. In 2015, he curated an exhibit for Governor Tom Wolf's Inaugural Festivities, showcasing Pennsylvania artists at the State Museum in Harrisburg.
