FIRST PLACE
Chris Gold
"Mom's Gone Grocery Shopping"
Judges comments:
The open mouths of these tiny birds project their songs and cries for food out into the gallery in a very powerful way. Birds remind us of the miracle of springtime and the fragility of life. This painting glows with the sounds of early summer.

SECOND PLACE
PJ Gilman
"Waterfall III"
Judges comments:
The speed of the brush marks creating the rushing waterfall evoke a roar of summer sounds. The small dark rock in the center of the falling water creates a moment of pause in the painting. The dappled light on the rocks is lovely, along with the complex color choices.

THIRD PLACE
Jeannine Dabb
"Mother and Child"
Judges comments:
I see a tender moment of quiet, between mother and child, amidst the chaos of a summer swimming pool. The sensitivity to the mothers portrait is beautiful.

HONORABLE MENTIONS
Mary Moores
"Serenity"
Judges comments: The glistening light in the distance and on the surface of the water is magical.
Ken Schwartzman
"Slow Day on the Boardwalk"
Judges comments: This piece makes me yawn, and it holds the essence of summer.
Susan Nicholas Gephart
"Lavender and Lilies"
Judges comments: I imagine a bullfrog serenade at sunset.
