When Diane Podolsky relocated to York in the fall of 2024, she quickly sought out places and organizations that aligned with her interests in her new home.
Diane is a passionate printmaker with a deep love for all things paper. With a background in botany and natural history, she brings a unique and thoughtful perspective to her work, whether in printmaking, drawing, or book arts. Her creativity is rooted in curiosity and a lifelong practice of exploring different disciplines—something that shines through in her art.
Originally from Philadelphia, Diane moved to York from North Carolina to be closer to family, especially her grandson.
“York reminds me a great deal of Philadelphia,” she says. “It’s centrally located, with access to a variety of cultural and outdoor activities.”
When her friend Nancy Barch heard she was moving to the area, she recommended Diane check out YAA—and she’s glad she did. Still new to the area, she began exploring local organizations and says that YAA stood out immediately for its welcoming atmosphere and thoughtfully designed gallery.
“I think the gallery space is wonderfully laid out, well lit, and can accommodate a lot of work,” she says. “I have enjoyed the exhibitions I have seen there so far, and the staff is professional and really cares about the membership and community.”

As someone who creates artist books, Diane was impressed by how YAA’s staff understood the challenges of exhibiting such delicate, interactive pieces, so she felt comfortable delivering her work for exhibit in the 2025 Spring Members’ Exhibition.
In fact, her piece sparked such interest that she was encouraged to consider teaching a class. She and the YAA team are currently exploring the idea of her leading a demonstration and talk on book structures.
Looking ahead, Diane hopes to connect with fellow printmakers and book artists through YAA. “My desire is to meet others at YAA who may want to form a printmaking/book arts community,” she says.
Though relatively new to YAA, Diane’s enthusiasm and thoughtful approach to her craft already make her a valuable member of our creative community. We’re excited to see what’s next for her here at YAA!
