Rottler Award Selection Exhibition 2021

York Art Association will be holding it's bi-annual Rottler Award Selection Exhibit from June 14 to July 9. The Rottler Award for Excellence in the Visual Arts is made possible through a bequest to the York Art Association by the late E. Kurt Rottler, a devoted member and President of the Board of Directors from 1965 through 1970. The Rottler Fund provides a $500 prize to each of the five winners of this prestigious members-only exhibit. The five winners are given their own group show in the Nancy M. Woodward Gallery the following year.

Rachel O’Connor of the Art Association of Harrisburg (AAH) will be our judge. She holds an undergraduate degree in art education from Messiah College and did her graduate studies at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). She is a curator for AAH, educator and art historian with a love of artists and all things creative.

INTAKE DETAILS

Work may be submitted on Friday, June 4 from 10am to 2pm and 5pm to 7pm. Each artist must enter 2 pieces of art to allow the judge to see a body of work. The exhibit is limited to 110 pieces. Once the intake reaches that number, additional entries are halted and the exhibition is full. (Please call the office if you would like to volunteer for intake.)

ENTRY DETAILS

To enter, you must be a current member of YAA. To become a member or to renew your membership call the office at 717-755-0028 or visit: yorkartassociaton.org/join-us.

If you have been a Rottler award recipient in the past, congratulations! However, you cannot re-enter this exhibition for a total of 4 years. For the 2021 exhibition, winners from 2017 and before are eligible to enter again. If you won in 2019, you will be eligible in 2023. THIS IS A CHANGE from our previous policy of waiting 6 years.

As always, we are eager to see the work generated by our members and offer a chance to be recognized as a high achiever of art in the community!

Gallery (and office) hours are Monday through Friday, 10am – 3pm, with last admittance at 2:30pm. For now, the gallery will not be open on weekends.

Due to Covid restrictions, there will be no Opening Reception and all Covid protocols must be followed while at the gallery. This includes limiting the number of people in the building, social distancing and hand sanitizing. Masks covering the nose and mouth are required.
