Classes and workshops fill up fast, so register early. A $25.00 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT is required when registering. Payment in full is required no later than the first day of any class or workshop. York Art Association does maintain a waiting list, so if you cannot get into the current class, you will be placed on a waiting list.

Snacks and other food and drink may be served or available for purchase at the York Art Association. Some of these products may not be safe to consume for people with peanut, tree nut, soy, milk, egg or wheat allergies. The York Art Association assumes no liability for any adverse reactions that may occur by reason of such consumption.

MONDAYS

A1. Robert Oughton: PEN, PENCIL AND PAPER (all levels)

Drawing is the foundation for all visual arts and no matter what your skill level or reason for drawing, challenges will and should emerge with each new endeavor. The basic instruments are pencil and pen, closely linked in simplicity, handling and perception. They can both dazzle and drive to distraction. All skill levels are invited. We’ll cover as many aspects of drawing as time allows.

A2. Barbara Buchanan: OPEN STUDIO (all levels)

This class is designed for the student with a basic knowledge of their chosen medium – oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor, etc. Emphasis is placed on improving painting and drawing skills and developing a personal style. Students may work from a still life set-up, conceptually or from photographs, including portraits. Students should bring all supplies in their chosen medium.

TUESDAYS

A3. Jason Tako: PAINTING LANDSCAPE AND WILDLIFE (all levels)

In this class, award winning artist Jason Tako will share with you the knowledge that has taken his work to national recognition. Students will learn the principles and fundamentals of what makes a landscape and wildlife painting a beautiful work of art and how to apply these principles to their own painting style, as well as what to avoid in painting. Jason will do demonstrations and talk about process and technique. Students will then create their own small landscape painting in class with Jason giving individual attention to each student. This class will be great for the student as well as the experienced painter. The instructor will demonstrate in oils, students may work in their preferred medium.
