Classes and workshops fill up fast, so register early. A $25.00 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT is required when registering. Payment in full is required no later than the first day of any class or workshop. York Art Association does maintain a waiting list, so if you cannot get into the current class, you will be placed on a waiting list.

A11. Kathy Becker: DRAWING FOR TEENS (ages 13+)

Explore various drawing skills as we learn the basics of drawing techniques such as shading and perspective and experimenting with the qualities and characteristics of different kinds of pencils and charcoal. Using still-life and landscape, students will learn about form, space, value and composition. We will look at works by artists both past and present to inspire us with the different artistic practices we can incorporate into our own art work.

  • DATES: Thursdays, March 31 – June 2 (10 weeks)
  • TIME: 6:30pm – 8:30pm

Fridays

C1. Rebecca Brodbeck: HANDS-ON ART HISTORY FOR HOMESCHOOLERS  (ages 5 – 12)

The arts are vital to providing a well-rounded education. YAA will provide a unique art experience for your home-schooled child. Students will be exposed to valuable art history, art terminology and will utilize various art mediums such as watercolors, charcoal, pastels, and collage. Every week we will learn about an artist or historical period in art and create works incorporating the techniques and or subject matter. In addition, students will have available the works in the York Art Association’s Gallery shows. The supportive environment of YAA encourages participants to connect with other home-schooled children in an exciting, fun and creative class!

Saturdays

C2. Rebecca Brodbeck: BECOMING MASTER OF ART (ages 5 – 8)

This program introduces a relaxed studio environment for discovering old and new masters of art, mediums, and various techniques used to create expression in the visual arts. Presentations and activities are tailored to the age groups specified in the descriptions. Students can select themes in areas in which they need to focus and individually create composition and subject matter.

C3. Rebecca Brodbeck: BECOMING MASTER OF ART (ages 9 – 12)

In this class students will have a more challenging art experience, learning more advanced art processes such as – but not limited to – perspective and color theory.

** AMERICAN VISIONARY ART MUSEUM BUS TRIP **

York Art Association is sponsoring a day long bus trip to Baltimore for a visit to the AMERICAN VISIONARY ART MUSEUM – space is limited, so book early!

This year’s theme is “The Big Hope Show.” This original and unabashedly idealistic art exhibition champions the radiant and transformative power of hope. Over twenty-five visionary artists, among them “super survivors” of enormous personal traumas, exhibit soulful creations reflecting their personal transcendence, and often, heightened or newfound creativity and sense of humor.

This unique museum is nestled at the base of Federal Hill, near Rusty Scupper Restaurant, and with easy access to the Inner Harbor (Baltimore Water Taxi or the free Charm City Circulator).
