Dear Friend,

Can you imagine a world without art? Art is fundamental to our culture. From prehistoric cave drawings to city murals, from a child’s first “masterpiece” to modern artistic icons, art shapes our world. Its value permeates all levels of our society. Art stimulates, unites, inspires, enriches and educates us all.

York Art Association’s mission is to nurture the creative spirit in everyone, young and old, novice and professional, creator and observer. We offer one of the best art education programs in the region. Our teachers excel in their abilities to encourage students of all ages in developing their artistic talents. Our art classes for children excite their inherent creativity while building self-confidence. Our advanced programs help adults discover their innate abilities, supporting years of satisfaction with art as a hobby or second career. In return, our students’ enthusiasm leads us to teach visual art in many forms, from watercolor to oil painting, sculpture to photography, and more.

But YAA is about more than education. We provide opportunities in our professional galleries for emerging and established artists to display work in a public setting. For many, this is their step to public recognition and ongoing careers. Our community of artists, members, fans, families and patrons support and sustain new careers and creative satisfaction. We offer unique opportunities for participants to earn public recognition and to reach new levels of expertise. YAA also participates with many other organizations to strengthen our community and build this region as an expanding arts marketplace.
